ISTANBUL (AA) - Mexico's unemployment rate fell to 2.9% in September, compared to the previous month, according to figures from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) on Friday.
The figure came lower than market expectations of 3%, and decreased 0.1 percentage point from 3% in August.
The economically active population was 61.2 million, INEGI said in a statement.
In September, 59.4 million people, or 97.1%, were employed among the economically active population -- 335,000 more compared to the same month in 2023.
The unemployed population was 1.8 million, while the unemployment rate was also 2.9% of the economically active population.
