Mexico's unemployment rate rises to 2.6% in April

Last month, 97.4% people employed among economically active population

ISTANBUL (AA) - Mexico's unemployment rate rose to 2.6% in April, according to figures from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) on Thursday.

The figure came in line with market expectations, while it was standing at 2.3% in March.

The economically active population was 61.4 million in April, or 794,000 more than during the same month of 2023, INEGI said in a statement.

In April, 59.8 million people, or 97.4%, were employed among the economically active population -- 902,000 more compared to the same month in 2023.

The unemployed population was 1.6 million in April, while the unemployment rate was also 2.6% of the economically active population.
