NEW YORK (AA) – Financial banking gains and technology losses resulted in a mixed close on Wall Street Monday.
The Dow added 21 points to end the day at 18,868. During trading hours, the index reached 18,934 points -- a new all-time high.
The S&P 500 lost less than one point to close flat at 2,164. The Nasdaq fell 18 points to 5,218.
Bank of America was up 5.6 percent, Goldman Sachs rose 2.6 percent and Citigroup and JP Morgan Chase saw their shares rise about 3.5 percent.
Apple, however, declined just 2.5 percent, while Google and Microsoft stocks fell 2.4 percent and 1.5 percent, respectively.
