ISTANBUL (AA) - US stocks opened Tuesday in the red.
The Dow rose just eight points, or 0.02%, to 35,322 at 9.39 a.m. EDT. The S&P 500, on the other hand, was flat at 4,499.
The Nasdaq declined 41 points, or 0.3%, to 13,843.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, fell 1.1% to 15.82. The 10-year US Treasury yield, meanwhile, fell 0.4% to 4.005%.
The dollar index lost 0.2% to 102.37, while the euro gained 0.26% to $1.0982 against the greenback.
Precious metals were in negative territory, with gold falling 0.1% to $1,924 per ounce and silver decreasing 0.3% to $22.71.
Oil prices were up more than 1.1%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $87.11 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $84.11.
