ISTANBUL (AA) – Mongolia has fully lifted border restrictions to allow resumption of international trade and travel.
Early this week, the government of Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene decided to “lift the heightened state of readiness and downgrading the level of restrictions” as the Asian nation has fully vaccinated 92% of its population.
“No restrictions will be imposed on business operations,” official Montsame News Agency reported quoting the prime minister.
“Mongolia fully opens its borders to international travel and is now open to all tourists and investors who are fully vaccinated,” he added.
“The government, administrative bodies, private entities, and tourism companies of Mongolia will put efforts into creating the necessary conditions to ensure safety and provide smooth services for all those arriving in the country for business and tourism purposes,” said L.Oyun-Erdene.
With a population of 3.2 million, Mongolia has reported 459,944 COVID-19 cases, including 2,155 deaths since the pandemic broke.
Since the virus spiked in the country late in 2020, the government had imposed strict lockdown measures at least seven times during which Mongolia was under ‘Red’ level of restrictions for 79 days.
The restrictions had hit hard the economy with growth dropping to -5.3%.
