Mongolia, Vietnam sign 7 pacts, upgrade ties

Ulaanbaatar, Hanoi release joint statement on establishment of comprehensive partnership between both countries

ISTANBUL (AA) - Mongolia and Vietnam on Monday signed seven memoranda to bolster cooperation between the two countries.

A statement by the Mongolian Presidency said that the memoranda were signed during a ceremony attended by President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh and his Vietnamese counterpart To Lam, who arrived in the capital Ulaanbaatar on an official visit.

According to the statement, the memoranda will deepen cooperation between the two countries in fields such as transportation, tourism, cyber security, education, and the legal sector.

Later, a joint statement was released on the establishment of a comprehensive partnership between both countries.

To Lam arrived in Mongolia on a two-day visit that coincides with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Vietnam is the first Southeast Asian country to recognize Mongolia’s independence.​​​​​​​
