AMSTERDAM (AA) – Netherlands police announced that more than 100 climate activists who were blocking the road in Amsterdam were detained Saturday.
Members of the environmentalist climate activist group, Extinction Rebellion, who came together in Amsterdam, held a sit-in by closing the A10 highway to traffic.
The demonstrators blocked the last part of A10, the entrance to the city, and caused traffic disruption on connecting routes.
Police urged the demonstrators to leave the highway and began detentions after the majority of the group continued the protest.
After detention procedures, the highway was reopened to traffic.
