A fire broke out in Europe's largest nuclear power plant, located in southern Ukraine, with Ukraine and Russia trading blame over the incident.

"Six units in the power plant are in cold shutdown, there is no explosion or other danger," the Russian-installed regional governor of Zaporizhzhia, Yevgeny Balitsky, said in a statement.

He added that the fire broke out in the plant’s cooling system due to shelling by the Ukrainian army.

  • Biden says cease-fire in Gaza 'possible' before his term ends

US President Joe Biden said a cease-fire deal in the Gaza Strip would be "possible" before the end of his presidency.

"Yes. It's still possible," Biden said in comments broadcast Sunday, when asked if he believes a cease-fire could be secured with five months left to his term.

Biden sat on Wednesday for his first interview with CBS since announcing his decision to pull out of the presidential race late last month against Republican candidate and former US President Donald Trump over concerns about the future of US democracy.

“Just in the past few days, more than 75,000 people have been displaced in southwest Gaza,” he added.
