KAZAN, Tatarstan (AA) – Moroccan chef Redouane Ouadidou won the International Tournament of Young Chefs as part of the KazanForum 2024, the organizers announced on Friday.
Ouadidou’s “high professionalism and confidence” brought him the prize, the organizers said.
Participants in the contest cooked local products, and Ouadidou had brought some ingredients from his home country.
“I really like cooking, no matter what cuisine – Italian, Japanese, Russian or Tatar. But I brought most of the products with me, including spices, which cannot be found here,” he said.
Teams from Russia, Tatarstan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Tunisia, Morocco, Senegal and Uzbekistan competed.
The 15th International Economic Forum Russia–Islamic World: KazanForum is being held in Tatarstan’s capital of Kazan. Anadolu is the global communications partner of the forum.
- Children attend master class on local foods
Earlier in the day, children attended a master class on local foods at the international event.
Six disabled children learned the details of making local Uchpochmak, a triangular pastry filled with chopped meat, onion as well as tatli, a sweet dish, from local chef Alexey Morozov as part of the forum’s Yunus Akhmetzyanov International Tournament of Young Chefs of Islamic Countries.
Tatarstan’s Labour, Employment and Social Services Minister Elmira Zaripova gave certificates to the children.
