ANKARA (AA) - Moroccans took to the streets as Morocco qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup quarterfinals after beating Spain 3-0 on penalties Tuesday night.
Thousands of Moroccans took to the streets in the capital Rabat and different cities across the country, including Casablanca, Marrakesh, Fes, and Agadir, among others, celebrating the national team's victory over Spain.
Moroccan fans who came to the Qatari capital Doha to support their national team organized victory celebrations, chanting for their squad and singing the national anthem.
Neither team was able to break the deadlock for the first 45 minutes at Doha's Education City Stadium.
Despite several efforts from both sides in the second half, neither national team was able to produce a goal as the match went to extra time.
The extra time in the Round of 16 match was 0-0. So, the penalty shootout decided the winning team.
Morocco will face the winner of the Portugal vs. Switzerland match in the next stage.
