AFYONKARAHISAR, Turkey (AA) - A motocross festival in Turkey, the MotoFest that is held under the auspices of Turkish Presidency, started on Wednesday.
The sporting event, which will run until Sept. 8 in the western province of Afyonkarahisar, includes two Grands Prix in the 2021 Motocross World Championship.
The Turkish Motorcycling Federation's deputy chief told reporters that it will be "the largest sporting event and festival in Europe."
"We are expecting at least 100,000 people (to the festival)," Mahmut Nedim Akulke said, adding that the spectators will be thrilled in the next days and have an experience full of adrenaline.
Akulke urged everyone coming to Afyonkarahisar to join the festival.
As part of the MotoFest, the ninth (MXGP of Turkey) and 10th round (MXGP of Afyon) of the 2021 Motocross World Championship will be respectively held in Afyonkarahisar.
The MXGP of Turkey will be on Sept. 4-5.
Meanwhile, the MXGP of Afyon will be run on Sept. 7-8. Both Grands Prix will take place at the Afyonkarahisar Motor Sports Center.
The festival will also see concerts of Turkish pop and rock stars.
