ISTANBUL (AA) - MotoGP on Wednesday announced that the Grand Prix of Finland has been postponed due to the "ongoing geopolitical situation in the region".
"Homologation works at the KymiRing, together with the risks caused by the ongoing geopolitical situation in the region, have sadly obliged the cancellation of the Finnish Grand Prix in 2022," MotoGP said in a statement.
"The current circumstances have created delays and put the ongoing work at the new circuit at risk," it added.
MotoGP noted that all parties (FIM, IRTA and Dorna Sports) agreed that the debut of the KymiRing track must be deferred to next year.
The 2022's World Championship calendar is expected to remain with 20 races. The Finnish MotoGP race 2022 was supposed to take place on July 10 before it was postponed.
