ANKARA (AA) - A six-time MotoGP champion, Marc Marquez from Spain, underwent a fourth surgery for his major arm injury on Friday, the MotoGP said.
"Repsol Honda Team's Marc Marquez has completed surgery on his right humerus at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. The medical team have deemed the operation a success as Marquez's recovery begins."
Humerus is a long bone in the arm between the shoulder and elbow.
It added that Marquez, 29, will stay in US in the next few days and then will return to Spain to go on his recovery.
Marquez had a crash to break his arm in the 2020 Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez.
He was diagnosed with a broken right humerus and was operated several times.
Marquez won the FIM MotoGP world titles in 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019.
