MINA, Saudi Arabia (AA) – Nearly two million Muslim pilgrims continued Tuesday the symbolic stoning of the devil, the last major ritual of the Hajj pilgrimage.
Crowds of the pilgrims converged on the Jamrat Bridge in the tent city of Mina to perform the stoning ritual.
Pilgrims hurl seven pebbles for three days at walls symbolizing the devil in a rite that began Monday.
Aerial photographs by Anadolu Agency showed pilgrims while on their way to Mina to carry out the stoning rite.
Last year, hundreds of pilgrims were killed as they made their way to the Jamrat Bridge to perform the symbolic devil-stoning ritual.
Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam, which all Muslims are obliged to perform at least once in their lives.
