ANKARA (AA) - French team Narbonne Volley won their maiden CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup 2022 Men’s title Tuesday by defeating Turkish team Halkbank Ankara 21-19 in a ‘golden set.’
Halkbank won the first leg 3-0 at the Baskent Sports Hall in Ankara on March 15, so the winner was determined by the golden set after the second leg game of the final ended 3-1 (25-22, 22-25, 25-23, 25-19) for Narbonne Volley at the Narbonne Arena in France.
The winner in the ‘golden set’ becomes the team that first obtains 15 points, provided that the points difference between the two teams is at least two points.
Held since the 1980-81 season, the CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup is an annual European-wide third-tier level club competition for men's volleyball.
The defending champion was Italian Allianz Powervolley Milano, while the most successful team of the organization is another Italian team, Modena Volley, with five titles.
