Nasdaq closes higher for 7th day, longest streak since January

Dow, S&P rise for 6th straight day since July, June

ISTANBUL (AA) - Nasdaq closed Monday with gains for the seventh consecutive trading day, recording the longest winning streak since January.

The tech-heavy index increased 40 points, or 0.3%, to end the session at 13,518.

The Dow Jones rose 34 points, or 0.1%, to finish the day at 34,095, while the S&P 500 added seven points, or 0.18%, to 4,365. The indexes rose for the sixth straight day since July and June, respectively.

The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, fell 0.13% to 14.89. The 10-year US Treasury yield rose 2.1% to 4.654%.

The dollar index added 0.23% to 105.27, while the euro shed 0.1% to $1.0717 against the greenback.

Precious metals were in negative territory, with gold losing 0.76% to $1,977 an ounce and silver trimming 0.88% to $23.01.

Oil prices increased around 0.4%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $85.19 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $80.86.
