ISTANBUL (AA) - The Nasdaq posted a new record close as US stocks finished Tuesday with gains.
The tech-heavy index increased almost 123 points, or 0.75%, to end the session at 16,511 – its seventh record close this year.
The Dow Jones rose 126 points, or 0.32%, to 39,558 and the S&P 500 gained 25 points, or 0.48%, to close the day at 5,246.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, lost 1.3% to 13.42. The 10-year US Treasury yield shed 0.7% to 4.448%.
The dollar index fell 0.2% to 105.02, while the euro added 0.3% to $1.0819 against the greenback.
Precious metals were on the rise, with gold increasing 0.9% to $2,357 per ounce and silver gaining 1.3% to $28.58.
Oil prices were down around 1.1% with global benchmark Brent crude at $82.48 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude at $78.16.
