BRUSSELS (AA) - A meeting of the NATO-Russia Council (NRC) will be held on Oct. 31 in Brussels, a NATO official told Anadolu Agency on Friday.
"A meeting of the NATO-Russia Council (NRC) will take place on October 31, 2018. This is part of NATO’s twin-track approach of strong defense and meaningful dialogue with Russia," the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media, told Anadolu Agency.
The official said this would be the eighth meeting of NRC in the last two years.
The meeting would take place after the relations between Washington and Moscow became tense following U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement of withdrawing from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) treaty that was signed in 1987 between the U.S. and the then Soviet Union.
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg on Wednesday said Russia violated the treaty, adding: "We don’t want a new Cold War, we don’t want a new arms race."
