ANKARA (AA) - NBA franchise Memphis Grizzlies’ point guard Ja Morant will be out of action for at least 3 weeks due to ankle injury.
"Ja Morant out 3-5 weeks with Grade 2 ankle sprain," the NBA said on website on Wednesday.
The 2020 NBA Rookie of the Year sustained the injury in a Monday match against the Brooklyn Nets.
Morant, 21, was hurt while blocking his opponent. He fell on his left ankle to exit the game in a wheelchair.
The Grizzlies without Morant won over the Nets 116-111 in overtime.
Averaged 17.8 points per game in the coronavirus-hit 2019-20 NBA season, he won the Rookie of the Year award.
In the 2020-21 season opener, he scored a career-high 44 points against the San Antonio Spurs.
