ANKARA (AA) - The Los Angeles Lakers signed US shooting guard JR Smith on Wednesday.
"OFFICIAL: Welcome to the squad, @TheRealJRSmith!," the Western Conference franchise said on Twitter.
JR Smith, 34, played for the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2015-2019 and won the NBA title in 2016.
He will be playing alongside superstar LeBron James at the Lakers. The two were teammates at the Cavaliers.
Smith was free agent as the Cavaliers waived him in 2019.
The paused 2019-20 season in the NBA will begin on July 30 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando, Florida.
