ISTANBUL (AA) - A new Israeli airstrike targeted the Al Mezzeh area in Damascus, a day after another strike left dozens dead or injured, Syrian state news agency SANA reported Friday.
The agency described hearing an explosion near the Syrian capital and reported that the nature of the blast was being investigated.
It confirmed the Israeli attack on the Al Mezzeh district but did not provide further details on the strike’s outcome.
On Thursday, SANA reported that 15 people were killed and 16 others injured, including women and children, in an Israeli air raid targeting residential buildings in the Al Mezzeh district and the Qudsiya area near Damascus.
There was no immediate Israeli comment on the report.
Israel, which rarely comments on military operations, has conducted airstrikes in Syria since 2011, with its focus on Iranian and Syrian forces and Hezbollah targets.
The latest airstrikes highlight continuing regional tensions amid Israel’s military offensives in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.
