TBILISI, Georgia (AA) — The opening ceremony for the Georgia regional office of the International Union of Democrats (UID) was held Sunday in the capital Tbilisi.

UID’s Georgia Regional Office was established last year in the city's Saburtalo district.

The ceremony was attended by UID President Kenan Hasan Aslan, General Center Organizational Chairman Mehmet Saganak, Family and Social Affairs Chairman Dilara Kilic, and Georgia President Yusuf Taskiran, along with other officials and guests, including Georgian lawmaker Tariel Nakaidze.

In his address, Taskiran highlighted UID's global reach, stating: "UID is a family with thousands of members operating in 57 regions across 30 countries."

He also announced the opening of the "Panda Children's Club," which will provide preschool education for young children aged three to six.

Taskiran emphasized the organization's commitment to launching similar projects throughout Georgia, pointing to two chess tournaments it held in the country.

Nakaidze noted that the new office would further strengthen Türkiye-Georgia relations.

Aslan conveyed greetings from President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and emphasized that the Tbilisi office would focus on meeting the needs of young people and women, while strengthening connections among the Turkish diaspora and communities linked to Türkiye.
