JOHANNESBURG (AA) - Türkiye’s ambassador-designate to Uganda, Mehmet Fatih Ak, presented his letters of credentials to Uganda’s Foreign Affairs Minister Gen. JeJe Odongo on Wednesday in Kampala.
Odongo welcomed Ak and hailed excellent bilateral relations between the two countries.
Fatih Ak replaces Fikret Kerem Alp who served in the post from 2018.
Odongo reiterated Uganda's commitment to further bolster excellent cooperation in key sectors such as health, trade, agriculture, defense and infrastructural development for the mutual benefit of both countries, according to a statement.
The foreign minister also conveyed his condolences to Türkiye and its people following devastating earthquakes that killed at least 16,540 people and injured more than 64,000, according to Turkish officials.
