Newcastle United brushed Manchester City aside with a 1-0 win in an English Football League (EFL) Cup third round match Wednesday.
Newcastle's Swedish attacker Alexander Isak netted the winning goal in the 53rd minute at St. James' Park.
Manchester City missed the chance to bag their first League Cup trophy since 2021.
Newcastle United reached the final twice, but they are yet to win their maiden title.
The EFL Cup is an annual knockout competition in men's domestic football held among the clubs of the English Football League system's top four levels -- the Premier League, Championship, League One and League Two.
