ANKARA (AA) - The National Football League Players Association (NFLPA) announced Thursday that 72 players tested positive for the coronavirus as of July 10.
The union said the players are quarantined and the NFLPA started working with the NFL to prepare protocols with new measures against the pandemic.
The US death toll from the virus rose to 138,178, according to Johns Hopkins University.
Since originating in China last December, the COVID-19 pandemic has claimed more than 588,000 lives in 188 countries and regions.
More than 13.7 million cases have been reported worldwide, while an excess of 7.6 million patients have recovered, according to Johns Hopkins.
