ANKARA (AA) - The National Football League (NFL) has said that 36 players and a staffer have tested positive for the coronavirus.
In a statement on Monday, the league said the Washington staffer tested positive for the new omicron variant.
NFL has mandated tier one and two personnel, who were previously vaccinated against the virus, to get their booster shots no later than Dec. 27 as positive cases have risen in the league.
But the players, who are in tier one, have no vaccine mandate as talks with the NFL Players Association are ongoing.
Tier one of the league's health protocol includes players, coaches, physios, and trainers having direct access to players.
The second tier is composed of managers and football operations staff.
The third tier staffers are media personnel, transporters and workers in stadiums or events.
