LAGOS, Nigeria (AA) - At least 10 people were shot dead in an early Monday morning gun attack in Nigeria’s oil-rich southern city of Port Harcourt, according to police.
“We can confirm that 10 persons were shot dead today as gunmen opened fire in the early hours of the day,” police spokesman Omoni Nnamdi told Anadolu Agency.
No arrest has been made but a police investigation has been launched, he added.
Locals have told Anadolu Agency the death toll could be as high as 15 iin the area called Mgboushimini.
Two people were killed in similar suspected gang shooting in Mgboushimini last Wednesday.
