ANKARA (AA) - Nigeria on Thursday confirmed 110 new COVID-19 cases, up from 58 a day earlier, the National Center for Disease Control said.

The new infections pushed the overall caseload in the West African country of over 200 million people to 163,440, including 2,058 related deaths. It has conducted over 1.8 million tests to date.

The vaccination drive in Nigeria continues with the Oxford-AstraZeneca jab, beginning with frontline health workers and vulnerable individuals.

At least 964,387 eligible Nigerians have received their first dose of the vaccine, according to National Primary Health Care Development Agency.

The government plans to inoculate 40% of its people this year and another 30% in 2022.
