ISTANBUL (AA) - In a two-day summit meeting on green economy this week, Nigeria hosted experts and officials to address domestic and international investment opportunities, cooperation chances and steps to raise awareness.
The UN, EU, and World Bank, along with the governorship of Niger state in north-central Nigeria, organized the Niger State Green Economy Summit under Sustainable Future: Harnessing Green Assets and Innovation for Niger State's Development.
Experts and officials from Nigeria and foreign countries discussed topics around the green economy in different sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Halil Ibrahim Yilmaz, deputy chairman of Ankara Chamber of Commerce, president of the Union of City Councils of Türkiye, and head of Ankara City Council, spoke in a session named Reimagining, Repositioning Agriculture in Niger State.
He said working for the crisis alone does not make sense, adding: "Even if we individually fulfil our responsibilities towards the climate to the fullest, the cost of irresponsibility in another part of the world reflects on all of us."
"Working for the future, yes, but not alone. Just as we are not alone, we will not be alone in the future. We will see green together or watch extinction together," Yilmaz stressed.
He underlined that people cannot remain silent as a once prosperous planet transforms into a small town dominated by crises.
"Although our skin colors, geographies, and thoughts may differ, our hearts and concerns for the world should be single," he added.
