ANKARA (AA) - Nigerian football player Isaac Promise passed away on Wednesday at the age of 31.
A lower division club in the U.S., Austin Bold announced on their website on Thursday that their player Promise is no more.
Promise spent most of his professional career in Turkey, as he played for Turkish Super Lig teams Genclerbirligi and Trabzonspor.
The American club didn't explain the cause of his death.
Meanwhile Genclerbirligi said on Twitter that Promise died of a heart attack.
Austin Bold, Genclerbirligi and the Nigeria Football Federation offered condolences to the family and friends of the player.
Promise came to Turkey in 2005 to play for Genclerbirligi. In 2008 he joined Trabzonspor.
In addition to these, he played for many other Turkish clubs such as Manisaspor, Antalyaspor, Balikesirspor, Karabukspor and Giresunspor.
He scored 66 goals in 271 Super Lig appearances.
Promise moved to Austin Bold in Dec. 2018.
