Talks will continue, says transport and infrastructure minister, in wake of access to social media platform being blocked last Friday

ANKARA (AA) – Talks between Turkish officials and representatives from Instagram have yet to yield results, said the Turkish transport and infrastructure minister on Monday.

"We don't think there will be any progress today," said Abdulkadir Uraloglu, but added that the talks would continue.

On Friday, Türkiye blocked access to the social media platform in order to better combat crimes such as human trafficking, smuggling, and child abuse.

Earlier Monday, Uraloglu said Turkish officials had met with Instagram representatives last week.

"During the meeting, our sensitivities were conveyed about compliance with the laws of the Republic of Türkiye," he said.
