ISTANBUL (AA) - North Korea has deployed a “new type” of tactical ballistic missiles on its borders, state media reported on Monday.
The country’s leader Kim Jong Un on Sunday ordered the transfer of missile launchers to the frontier military units.
“Independence, justice and peace are firmly guaranteed by the absolute and matchless self-defense capability,” Kim told a commissioning ceremony in the capital Pyongyang.
“Our eternal victory, genuine peace, happiness and wellbeing (are) ensured by the ever-growing powerful and limitless strength,” Kim said.
“Economic construction, bolstering of defense capabilities, improvement of the people's living standard, natural disaster relief, etc. are crucial affairs and main functions of the state, all of which should never be neglected,” Kim said.
The commissioning of the new type of tactical ballistic missile comes at a time when North Korea is witnessing floods, he noted.
Central and northern parts of the country have witnessed massive floods, displacing thousands of people, mostly in central and northern parts of the country.
