ANKARA (AA) – North Korea has designated a "missile industry day" to mark the test-firing of its intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) last year, state media reported on Sunday.
Pyongyang test-fired Hwasong-17 missile on Nov. 18, 2022, with its leader Kim Jong-un declaring that the missile reaffirmed the country's "acquisition of a powerful and reliable capability to counter any nuclear threats."
Nov. 18 has been designated as the missile industry day as it displayed the might of a world-class nuclear power and the strongest ICBM possessor was demonstrated to the whole world," the Korean Central News Agency reported.
The designation was made at a session of the Permanent Commission of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly of North Korea.
The missile, according to the state media, had flown 999.2 kilometers (621 miles) and landed in the international waters of the East Sea.
