North Korea holds party meeting to review 6-month progress

First party meeting since Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Pyongyang earlier this month

ISTANBUL (AA) - The North Korean Workers' Party convened a plenum with leader Kim Jong-un in attendance to review six months of progress, state media reported Saturday.

The meeting, which began Friday, is to "discuss and decide a series of important immediate issues arising in maintaining the upturn in the comprehensive development of Korean-style socialism," KCNA reported.

It is the first meeting since Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Pyongyang earlier this month.
