A delegation of North Korea's ruling party are visiting Russia to attend an international forum, state news agency KCNA reported on Monday, as the two countries develop relations in all areas.

The delegation led by Kim Su-gil, alternate member of the political bureau of the Workers' Party, left for Russia at the invitation of Russia's ruling United Russia party.

The members will attend the For the Freedom of Nations forum, and are expected to meet Russian officials.

The forum will be held on Feb. 15-17 to develop multilateral cooperation for "the fight against modern practices of neo-colonialism," according to the website of United Russia. It is expected to be attended by leaders and representatives of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Africa, Latin America and the Middle East.

Relations between Moscow and Pyongyang have grown following an official visit by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un to Russia in September last year, when he met President Vladimir Putin.
