Hristijan Mickoski says new government will focus on reforms

BELGRADE, Serbia (AA) - North Macedonian President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova on Thursday assigned Hristijan Mickoski, chairman of the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization-Macedonian National Democratic Union (VMRO-DPMNE), to form the government.

“The ongoing negotiations gave me the right to believe that VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski has a serious opportunity to form a government,” Siljanovska Davkova said at a ceremony at Villa Vodno, the Presidential residence in Skopje.

Mickosk said the new government will focus on reforms.

"I would like to announce that the new reform government will be established as soon as today. A government whose main purpose and duty will be to deal with reforms and move the processes forward," said Mickosk.

Mickoski must present the new government and its program to [arliament within 20 days from Thursday at the latest.

After the names and programs that will form the new government are presented to parliament, a confidence vote from 61 deputies from the 120-seat legislature in the vote of confidence is sufficient for the formation of the government.

The Your Macedonia alliance, led by VMRO-DPMNE, with first with 58 deputies in the May 8 general election.
