PARIS (AA) – The French weather agency on Tuesday issued a red alert for the northern city of Pas-de-Calais as ongoing floods battered the region.
At the request of President Emmanuel Macron, some 120 more firefighters have been deployed in Pas-de-Calais to join relief efforts, Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin wrote on X.
Residents were asked to stay away from streams, lakes and rivers, and avoid using their vehicles.
Aa River is reportedly at risk of overflowing, while a football pitch was completely flooded in Pas-de-Calais, which also faced floods in November.
