ISTANBUL (AA) - Russian teenage skater Kamila Valieva failed to win a medal in the women's individual figure skating event at the Beijing Winter Olympics on Thursday.
Valieva, 15, who was competing under the banner of the Russian Olympic Committee, finished in fourth place with 224.09 points in total after falling twice during the free skate.
On Monday, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) cleared Valieva to compete in the Beijing Olympics despite failing a drug test.
The CAS announced a decision to lift her provisional suspension after she tested positive for a banned substance.
According to the CAS, Valieva is considered a "protected person" -- in other words, a minor -- under the World Anti-Doping Code.
She had also become the first woman to produce a quadruple jump in the Olympic competition in the team event last week.
