GAZA CITY, Palestine (AA) – More than 110 Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, local authorities said.
"The occupation army continues to brutally target displaced people, civilians, municipal teams, and others, killing more than 110 people in the past hours,” Ismail Al-Thawabteh, who heads Gaza’s government media office, told a press conference.
He cited that one of the deadliest Israeli attacks on a school-turned shelter in the northern town of Beit Hanoun on Sunday left at least 43 people dead.
“More than 213 shelters have been killed in Israeli attacks since the start of its genocide” last year, Thawabteh said, adding that 94 civil defense personnel also lost their lives in Israeli bombardment.
“The occupation army has carried out successive massacres against medical teams and hospitals in recent days, killing several doctors and staff,” he added.
Israel has launched a genocidal war on the Gaza Strip that has killed nearly 45,000 victims, mostly women and children, since a Hamas attack on Oct. 7, 2023.
The second year of genocide in Gaza has drawn growing international condemnation, with officials and institutions labeling the attacks and the blocking of aid deliveries as a deliberate attempt to destroy a population.
The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants last month for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former defense chief Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on Gaza.
