ISTANBUL (AA) - The Pakistani and Indian soldiers deployed along the international border in disputed Jammu and Kashmir exchanged fire late Thursday.

The latest fire exchange was reported near Sialkot on the Pakistani side, and Jammu on the other side of the border.

The firing “began after a drone attempted to intrude into Pakistani territory, which was shot down by Pakistani forces,” Dawn News reported, quoting sources in the military.

The Pakistani military has yet to issue a statement.

According to India’s Border Security Force (BSF), on Thursday night, Pakistan Rangers “resorted to unprovoked firing” along the border in Jammu.

“BSF troops immediately retaliated to the firing,” it said in a statement, adding that one civilian and one BSF personnel were injured.

Last week, two Indian border security personnel were injured after Pakistan Rangers "resorted to unprovoked firing" along the international border in Jammu region, local news gathering agency Press Trust of India reported.
