KARACHI, Pakistan (AA) - Pakistan has detected another case of mpox, raising the tally to six, the Health Ministry said on Wednesday.
The infected person belongs to northwestern Dir district, and recently returned from a “Middle Eastern country,” the National Institute of Health said in a statement.
He was isolated at Peshawar airport during screening, and later found infected after laboratory tests.
All six confirmed cases in the South Asian nation have been linked to travelers returning from abroad.
The World Health Organization (WHO) recently declared the global mpox situation a "public health emergency of international concern" on Aug. 14.
