KARACHI, Pakistan (AA) – The UK and Pakistani navies conducted a joint drill in the northern Arabian Sea, the Pakistan Navy said on Wednesday.
According to a statement, the drill, which covered a "wide range of naval operations," was held on the completion of the visit of the UK Navy's ship HMS Richmond to Karachi port.
The exercise, it added, was aimed to enhance "interoperability and contribute towards international efforts for ensuring maritime security in the region."
Discussions on professional matters and bilateral interactions were also held.
"Pakistan Navy and UK Navy enjoy longstanding relations based on training, development, mutual interest, and cooperation in naval affairs," the statement further said.
The UK Navy ship's visit to Karachi and joint naval drills are a testimony of the Pakistan Navy's resolve to work towards regional peace and further strengthen mutual collaboration between the two navies, it maintained.
