KARACHI, Pakistan (AA) – Pakistan on Wednesday unveiled its new “indigenous” tank manufactured in collaboration with China.
Army Chief Gen. Asim Munir presided over the roll-out ceremony held at Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT), the military’s largest defense products manufacturer, near the capital Islamabad, said an official statement.
The tank “Haider” has been manufactured in collaboration with Chinese state company NORINCO, and several local industries.
Chinese ambassador to Pakistan, and key army and NORINCO officials also attended the ceremony.
“Haider embodies cutting-edge technology and impressive capability in the domain of tank warfare having remarkable firepower, protection and maneuver characteristics,” the statement said.
Crafted with state-of-the-art advanced technologies, it added, Haider “stands as a testament to Pakistani defense industry’s relentless pursuit of excellence in defense innovation.”
