ISLAMABAD (AA) - Pakistan’s army chief met with the commander of the US Central Command and discussed regional security issues.
The meeting between Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff Gen. Syed Asim Munir and CENTCOM Commander Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla took place at the headquarters of the CENTCOM in Tampa Bay, Florida, said Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media-wing of Pakistan army.
"During the meeting, matters of shared interests, particularly cooperation in regional security matters came under discussion. Both sides discussed avenues of joint training and reiterated the need for enhancing training interactions between CENTCOM and Pakistan Army," said ISPR in a statement.
Munir, who arrived in Washington last week along with head of the Inter-Services Intelligence Lt. Gen. Nadeem Anjum, met with senior US officials, including Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.
He also met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in New York and discussed the current situation in Gaza as well as in Kashmir.
