Palestine farmer attacked by Jewish settlers in W. Bank

Jewish settlers stage frequent attacks on West Bank Palestinians and their property

By Qais Abu Samra

NABLUS, Palestine (AA) - A Palestinian farmer on Wednesday suffered fractures and bruises after being attacked by Jewish settlers in the occupied West Bank, according to eyewitnesses.

Dozens of settlers, witnesses said, beat Mahmoud Hussein, a 20-year-old Palestinian farmer, while the latter was harvesting olives in Burqa, an Arab town near the West Bank city of Nablus.

According to witnesses, Hussein suffered a fractured arm -- in addition to bruises all over his body -- and is now being treated at Nablus’s Rafidia Hospital.

Jewish settlers frequently stage attacks on Palestinian towns and farms -- and their Arab inhabitants -- across the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

According to Palestinian figures, more than 650,000 Jewish settlers currently live on 196 settlements (and more than 200 settler “outposts”) scattered throughout the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

International law views the West Bank and East Jerusalem as "occupied territories" and considers all settlement-building activity there to be illegal.
