Health official says 50 cases of Delta variant detected in Palestine

RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA) – Palestine is on the verge of a 4th wave of the coronavirus pandemic, the Palestinian Health Ministry warned on Wednesday.

“There is a rise in the number of daily virus infections,” ministry official Kamal al-Shakhra told the official Palestine Radio.

He confirmed that health authorities have detected 50 cases of the highly infectious Delta variant.

Al-Shakhra called on the Palestinians to receive the COVID-19 vaccine to protect themselves and their families against the different virus variants.

Palestinian health authorities have so far recorded 344,166 cases of coronavirus, including 3,851 deaths, in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

According to the Health Ministry, a total of 552,692 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
