GAZA CITY, Palestine (AA) - A Palestinian journalist was killed Tuesday in Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, pushing the death toll for members of the press targeted by Israel since Oct. 7 to 123, the Gaza Media Office said in a statement.

Rizk Al-Gharabli, director of the Palestinian Media Center in the Gaza Strip, lost his life in Israeli airstrikes on the city of Khan Younis, the statement added.

In a previous statement, the media office said Israel has intentionally killed journalists in Gaza with the aim of silencing the Palestinian narrative, concealing the truth and preventing news from reaching regional and international public opinion.

Israel has launched a deadly offensive on Gaza following an Oct. 7 attack by the Palestinian group Hamas, killing at least 27,585 Palestinians and injuring 66,978 others, while nearly 1,200 Israelis are believed to have been killed in the Hamas attack.

The Israeli offensive has left 85% of Gaza’s population internally displaced amid acute shortages of food, clean water and medicine, while 60% of the enclave’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, according to the UN.
