JERUSALEM (AA) - Israeli army troops on Tuesday shot a Palestinian man to death in the Israeli-occupied West Bank after he allegedly tried to stab an Israeli soldier.
According to an army statement, an Israeli soldier “shot a Palestinian who attempted to carry out a stabbing attack” near the Jewish-only Adam settlement in the occupied West Bank.
“The Palestinian man was shot and killed at the scene, while no injuries were reported among Israeli soldiers,” the statement read.
The slain Palestinian has yet to be identified.
Since October of 2015, more than 285 Palestinians have been killed following alleged attacks on Israelis or in clashes with Israeli forces, according to Palestinian figures.
The Israeli authorities, for their part, say almost 50 Israelis have been killed in attacks carried out by Palestinians over the same period.
