RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA) - A Palestinian was killed Tuesday by Israeli army forces in the West Bank city of Nablus, according to Palestine media.
A 40-year-old man was shot in the chest in Khirbet at-Tawil and was admitted to hospital where he was pronounced dead, the official news agency, WAFA, reported.
Clashes erupted in the town when residents countered an attack by Israeli settlers on their property, said witnesses.
Tensions have been running high across the occupied territory since Israel launched a deadly military offensive against the Gaza Strip following an Oct. 7 Hamas attack, which killed less than 1,200 people.
At least 436 Palestinians have since been killed, more than 4,700 injured and 7,630 detained in the occupied territory, according to Palestinian figures.
Israel is accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice. An interim ruling in January ordered Tel Aviv to stop genocidal acts and take measures to guarantee that humanitarian assistance is provided to civilians in Gaza, which has killed more than 31,800 since early October.
