RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA) - A Palestinian man died on Thursday in a hospital from wounds sustained by Israeli army gunfire last month in the Tulkarm refugee camp in the northern occupied West Bank.

According to the Palestinian news agency Wafa, citing an on-the-ground reporter, Awad Tayeh Muhammad Anbar, 47, was critically injured by Israeli forces during a raid on the Tulkarm camp on Nov. 14.

His funeral prayers will be held soon after the afternoon prayers, according to Islamic last rights, after his body was handed over to his family by authorities at a hospital in Nablus where he was receiving treatment.

Anbar's death pushed the death toll in the West Bank since the war between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas in the Gaza Strip began on Oct. 7 to 266.

Tensions have been running high across the West Bank amid an Israeli military offensive on the Gaza Strip following a cross-border attack by Hamas on Oct. 7.
